Thursday: Turnaround in a college town

On Thursday, former Lutheran pastor (now APA priest) Fr. Wade Miller will talk about his church, St. Phillip’s in Blacksburg, Virginia, has grown more than ten-fold since he became the rector in 2015.

Fr. Wade will be interviewed by Fr. Mark Perkins (of the Continuing Forward executive committee) at noon EDT Oct. 3 as part of our monthly webinar series. Please log in using Zoom to listen and ask your own questions.

The interview will begin by discussing his journey from Reformed evangelicalism through the Episcopal and Lutheran church, until finally joining the Anglican Province of America in 2014. When he arrived at St. Phillip’s, the congregation consisted of six members, while today Sunday attendance averages around 80.

In addition to the turnaround story, he will also talk about the parish’s ongoing interactions with the town’s major employer — Virginia Tech — and the opportunities and challenges he sees going forward.

Our Oct. 3 guest will be Fr. Wade Miller of St. Philip's Anglican Church in Blacksburg, Virginia
